Abstract:
Troubleshooting or understanding what happened during an Ansible playbook is not always trivial, especially when there are hundreds of tasks or several hosts involved.

ARA Records Ansible is an open source OpenStack community project created to make this easier.

Leveraging the native Ansible callback plugin framework, ARA will transparently record your Ansible playbook tasks in a database and then provide a command line interface (CLI) client as well as a reporting web interface to browse the recorded data in an intuitive way.

In this session, we'll explain how you can further extend Ansible with callback plugins and we'll demonstrate the OpenStack community use case with ARA for reporting on more than a million Ansible playbook runs every month.
