My favorite Machiavelli quote,
*_“The lion cannot protect himself from traps, and the fox cannot defend himself from wolves. One must therefore be a fox to recognize traps, and a lion to frighten wolves.”_*

There is no freedom without responsibility. As responsibility is relinquished, freedom dissolves into slavery.

A bully doesn't want your lunch money he wants the power and fear he inflicts on you. But the second you stand up to that bully. The second you make that bully work to make you scared and powerless, the more you take the fun of bullying you away from him.

Sometimes, we must also face the possibility that the ones oppressing us are no one other than ourselves, and thus the struggle needs to be directed against all those facets of our personality that keep us diminished and en route to failure.

I consider myself a student of Master Machiavelli, among other great men. His ideas & intuitive knowledge of politics has influenced politics since his works were available. His works brought a great clarity to me, if that clarity could be called "disillusionment", that would not be incorrect. Rather than assigning a depressive connotation as the word "disillusionment" sometimes has I would say the realizations his ideas brought me strengthened me & make my perceptions more keen even in personal observations of the behaviours of those around me.
