This is very similar to my texture, except one half of my head has tighter curls and the other is pretty flat and uneven. If you’ve got this wave pattern, you know how difficult it can be to style. Usually it just end up either a)poofy or b)flat and stringy. I think you did a great job enhancing what she’s got. ❤️

Love it! I have a similar goal: definition over volume. When experimenting with wavy hair stuff, I ended up making it really volumous the first time, and it made me feel actually very dysphoric. So I experimented a bit. I got really good results with pin curls at night - in only two clumps (I only have my side bangs long and everything else is shaved to about an inch except my front bangs). And I curled inward not outward so that the waves at the top of my head lay flat and don't pop out. That way I can have really cute flat hair styles up top and big wavy curls cascading down wherever I want them in my hair. I love it, and I think I'm going to keep up that nighttime routine of smoothing and pin curling. I was worried about brushing out my hair on non-wash days but I tried it out and first of all, after I did all the stuff on wash day, subsequent brushing and combing did NOT frizz it out all that much - it stayed loosely wavy and re-clumped as I moved around. And then I just dampened to smooth out, let it dry, and pin curled for the night (overall, it was a 5 min routine plus like 20 min of drying in front of a fan while playing my nightly video game).

I love it! Growing up I would notice how my friends were able to play after a pool day or after showers and that their hair didn't become a giant puffy frizzy mess. I didn't understand what I was doing wrong! They didn't put anything in their hair. They didn't tie it up. They didn't braid it. Man I was so jealous! Later I learned mine was so different because it was wavy and curly. I was so frustrated! I had to WORK to get it smooth and WORK to get it to curl! Hell, I'm 38 and still trying to figure it out! 🙄 Mel, you're a great teacher! Wish you could come do my hair!! Hahaha ☺

I wish I could have her work with my hair….!!! My whole life my hair has always been called frizzy by hair dressers and it is … because it’s supposed to be wavy. It’s not very wavy, anything I have is lose but it’s definitely meant to be wavy and i feel like I can’t get anyone to give me the haircut I want/need

Same waves as mine very pretty indeed. I always find with my own hair it goes straighter on day I wash it but next day when I wet it the waves come back strong I’m new to this journey and still trying to find my way around it after many many years of wearing my hair straight

My texture is similar but I use a denman and curl my hair around the handle. Then I release it and scrunch in gel or foam after. I get several honest to goodness ringlets!! I feel that technique works to give the waves way more definition. Of course my hair is fine, thin, and shorter than hers so it doesn’t get as weighed down.

I want to try the verb foam so badly but I have so many hair care products I need to work through before buying more. My collection is obscene 🤣
