I am using Math 4 with my autistic son and we love it. Such a good curriculum especially when you add in all the extras available to help on the website. I know my son appreciates that each page is not crammed with questions as he finds it less overwhelming. The hands on activities are great and also help break it up so it’s not just sitting at a book answering questions. It’s a win for us, I hope your son does well with it too 🙂

You said you had heard the biggest difference between Apologia and MWC is that there isn’t as much review in Apologia. But the “skills practice” scheduled at the beginning is meant to be the review. So that means there is actually review built in every day unless you skip the skills practice. Not to mention any of the “book extras” you can do if you choose (which are usually computer games or other worksheets). Just letting people know in case they were worried about how much review is in here.
I would say the difference between the review styles is that MWC will spiral the review, meaning the review each day is different (one day might be place value, and the next might be money but they are purposeful and make sense why they are the warmup before that particular lesson). Apologia will focus on a skill set for a while. For example, if it was 4th grade math, they would review multiplication daily until they’ve gone through all of the numbers to review in multiplication. So for a few days they might review the twos and threes, then the next few days it would be the 4’s and 5’s and so on. Also Apolgia does have a mixed review towards the end of the chapter (cumulative review) and then a chapter review.

How is this math working out for your son? I am almost done teaching my daughter kindergarten math with confidence and while it worked well, I don’t like it. Too teacher intensive and not smooth for me despite being organized. I bought Apologia 1, because it looks easier to teach. Wondering what you think since you have used both.

Do you feel there's a similar flavor to math with Confidence?
