THE WESTERN WALL
Welcome to the western wall, also known as the wailing wall, the holiest and most significant site in Jewish religion. This is the western retaining wall of the temple mount, where the Jewish second temple stood until destroyed by the roman army in the year of 70. The western wall is a symbol of the Jewish longing to zion through the centuries, as reflected in Jewish prayer "if I forget thee o Jerusalem may my right hand wither". Between the wall cracks, visitors of all religions place notes with prayers, requests and hopes. The stones were part of the original Herodian temple, considered an architectonic marvel of the ancient world, as stated in the Talmudic saying: "He who has not seen the Temple of Herod, has never seen a beautiful building".
