I grew up with Steve and jammed at his family's house in Wilkinsburg along with other musicians, Bobby Jones Jr., Art and Bobby Carter, Russ Jones, Reggie Sims and many others. Steve was ahead of his time even back then. We were just learning how to play the R&B songs of the day and Steve was already exploring the Jazz masters. He was a great drummer too.

I came here to listen to Steve play. His playing in Dave Holland's quintet was never given any room. I had to find out how he sounds. Now, I'll add him to my short list of favorite Vibe players. Definitely a cat.
