Why call it Black Beauty? I dont see any resemblance to the book other than the name

1. We already have several of these type of movies. Flicka is one of them.
2. This is not what the original Black Beauty was about, stop changing it all.
3. If this horse is wild, why does it have shoes on?

Black Beauty was a male horse whose story centered around the abuse that carriage horses suffered. Not to mention that he was likely a thoroughbred, not a “mustang” that looks suspiciously like a thoroughbred. This is every generic “losing a ranch and horse saves girl/girl saves horse” movie trope. Also, this is an insult to the time and dedication that wild mustang owners spend putting into their animals (who are not tame in days). Why can’t this be an original movie, not a shameful “Black Beauty” spinoff?

This is shameful to the actual story of Black Beauty. This is nothing but another Flicka spin off. Black Beauty wasn’t a mustang, and at least the majority of the horses playing this “Black Beauty” arent mustangs either.

I remembering hearing that Disney would be coming out with a new version of black beauty and honestly was very excited until I saw the trailer. I had never been more disappointed at how they took this marvelous original story about animal abuse and the cruelty surrounding it and turned it into a 'broken girl tames wild horse' trope. Not only did they do a complete change the story from its true meaning but they also have the audacity to say it's based on the book when they have nothing in common. I honestly could not be any more disappointed with the outcome wish they could just delete the entire existence of their spin-off version. It doesn't capture the true story at all, I have watched the 1994 version, and being a fan of it I expected something better. Disney do better. (This is my opinion solely feel free to agree or disagree I am just here ranting about how unoriginal this movie is)

Edit: Okay, to the people that think the same as me, I can tell you that I agree in some points you said but not in others:

• I don't have a problem with the story happening in America.

• I don't mind if it happens in the XXI century. (Do you know there's still horse abuse 'till these days like horses being used as a ride in parks and that they're took care in horrible conditions?)

• I don't mind if it's a girl and not a boy. (BUT STOP ALREADY WITH THE ANGSTY GIRL TROPE) She could be totally fine as that! Plus I feel sorry for Mackenzie Foy because that's the only role they always put her to play.

• I don't mind if the horse is a mare, the story should be able to work with any gender.

If you want to get free inspired in the original story that's totally fine. Even the other live action from the 90's had things changed (the boy just appeared in the book as a simple ostler that didn't knew how to take care of horses and got Black Beauty sick. He never appears again) But what I feel angry about is that they want us to sell the same treats (Girl empowerment blah blah blah) Yes, girl empowerment and all but they just use that to bring up attention. Are you actually interested in the story, in what it teaches? Or you just want the horse girls money? They're trying to use the same tropes of any horse movie.

Of course, as someone pointed me out, I should watch the movie first before making conclusions. But still... stop trying to guess what the people want to make your business.

Okay, so let's see, what do we have here? Insecure teenage girl, who'd lost at least one family member gets separated from her former environment, and being transported to a place with a stable. She feels so much pain she hates everyone around her, even people who are trying to comfort her. Suddenly, a wild, untameable horse appears and the girl has a sPeCiAl bond with it, although she probably had no experience with horses before. She tames the horse, she rides the horse she kinda falls in love with the horse, and then - BOOM - evil rich man gets into the picture, buys the animal, and the girl swears to get her faithful mount back. There's an unnecessary love story with a super-duper-cool handsome guy of course (because that's what average, broken-hearted teenage girls are supposed to do, dating the coolest f*ckboy in town). The only thing I'm missing is the unsymphatic, blonde, rich rival girl who does everything to keep Mr Handsome away from our heroine and humiliates her as many time as she just possibly can. So... how many times have I seen this already?

And you know what, there's nothing wrong with it. The plot is not that bad. Not original at all, but it could actually end up in something pretty amazing. But... if you can't be original with the story (which is pretty hard in these days, let's be honest, especially in the case of the horse movies) then how about... I don't know... at least TRYING to be original with the title and the name of the horse? Calling the horse and the movie Black Beauty is really disrespectful towards the original creation and its author, and since it has nothing to do with it, this title makes the fans of the novel and the older classical movie cheated. It's a beautyful black horse, there are a lot's of names which would've reflect the beauty and the ellegance of it pretty well actually. As a fan of the 1994 movie, it deeply disappoins me, that such a once great company lacks creativity this badly. But wait, what am I even talking about? It's "Disney+ ORIGINAL movie"! And this is a really catchy title, tons of people will be curious about it (especially the fans of the novel and the '94 movie), and what does that mean? That's right, even more CA$H for the company! I have an opinion about this, but I rather keep it to myself, because I don't want to be disrespectful towards the people who liked the movie and love the work of disney.

Also, this is all my personal opinion. So even if you disagree - which is totally fine - please just share your thoughts instead of trying to force your personal views on me!

This movie was filmed at the stable where I kept my horse (the same estate that I live in). It’s crazy to see it all done up and looks completely different. I was able to cycle down and see the set!
