Want to see how someone does 3 sec positive with reasonable weights for 10 reps. Counting 123 doesn't even come CLOSE to 3 sec!

You have to take this training advice in the context of the time. Dude was ahead of the curve.

I think it’s great advice for someone just starting out. With this method you have to lower the weight and it helps your body to memorize each steps.
After knowing each movements and proper form switch to fast concentric and slow eccentric.

Just lift it quickly and lower it slowly so you know you're not bsing yourself on how strong you are but also because it's great for hypertrophy. I used to deadlift only thinking about how much I can lift up and the eccentric was non existent. So when my lower back stopped hurting I did a slow eccentric on every rep except the top set which would be quick on the way down and it helped me think that I earn the right to lift the weight I'm lifting by lowering it slowly and doing another rep.

It depends how explosive you want to be.
If your trying to build for speed or explosiveness like a sprinter or a fighter, you might be interested in rapid concentrics to maximise power and grow those fast twitch fibres.

If you're after muscular endurance, slower concentrics makes a lot of sense for those slow twitch fibres

Also the fact that as you get very close to failure, your concentric phase will be a lot slower.

I do think a slow-ish concentric can be helpful for injury prevention (power = force x velocity), but yeah, probably needlessly technical.

Slamming the weights and grunting loudly should be the main focus in order to increase mass, lose fat and get strong as fuck

I for the most part agree with this as I usually just hold the weight for 5 seconds and lower for roughly 3 seconds and on the last rep that I know is going to be failure I will hold the weight til I can’t no more which is a really long essentric

Slow on the eccentric and fast but controlled on the concentric

I dont think he would actually count it out mike was just a smart guy and was giving an approximation

I like to go in planet fitness and count REALLY loud every rep. “AND A ONE TWO THREE. PAUSE! AND A ONE TWO THREE FOUR.” (Then add the rep count as well, with a Rick flair whoo after)😂😂😂😂😂

When put to the extremes they are 2 different exercises and really shouldn't be compared to each other

The faster you lift it, the more effort you put into it. So explode on the way up...

I think Mentzers thing was to get rid of any momentum. Slowing it down does that, but if you are mindful of the muscles doing the work, and. Just not swinging/heaving it, you should be good.
