One time years ago I was walking home with my dad when we noticed someone following us. He was really muscular so my dad took my hand and quickly walked past our house. I didn't understand it at the time but I understood that his look meant for me to be quiet and pretend everything is fine. We walked into a nearby apartment complex, found a wall, and monitored the person as my dad held my shoulders to calm me (I was shaking in fear trying not to make a sound). He kind of stood around, shuffled a bit, and then walked away. My dad and I then went around the city for about an hour before we went home and that was when he explained to me that when I get older, I need to be vigilant and smart so that I can detect and shake people off my path if I feel like they're following me.

Honestly I'm glad he showed me that because it's come in handy a few times, especially at night.

i was around 10-11 years old when this happened. it was snowing outside but i still had to go to school according to the district. i usually walked to my school because it’s only like a 7 minute walk, it’s not that bad. when i was just about almost there to the school, a man in his car stopped and asked if i needed a drive to my school. keep in mind, my school was just across the street. so there was no need to get a ride, plus i didn’t recognize him. i politely declined, but the man kept insisting and insisting. when i tried to walk away, the man turned his car and started driving to me. that’s when i knew something was wrong and i ran across the street to the entrance of my school, there’s always a staff member or teacher by the entrance to help the kids cross the street. i ran to that teacher and told her about what happened, she rushed me inside of the school and told security about the man and called the police. i didn’t know what happened after that until my mom told me a few weeks later. she told me that the police searched through the guy’s car to see multiple weapons and rope in the truck and the man was arrested on the spot. i could’ve been kidnapped.

I was about 6 or 7 at the time in a grocery store and was just running in front of my mum's trolley (as kids do), I personally don't remember this but it still terrifies mum to this day. Apparently some middle aged man just swiped me up off the floor, screaming and all and tried to leave as if acting like he was my father carrying me. Thank god mum was right behind me, she screamed and ran at him and I think once he realised she was my mum he put me down and tried making excuses like he just wanted to make sure I was 'safe'. Must be horrifying as a parent to see your kid in any danger as such.

I was walking back from school and it was 3:30 pm. A man walked in front of me and asked if I was lost then I said no (he looked about 30).He invited me to his house then I said no quickly. I saw the bus that my friend takes then I just started to walk next to it. The man started to walk slowly. Then he grabbed me and the bus stopped then the bus driver quickly got out and took me inside the bus with the man getting pushed on the ground on his stomach. The police came and arrested the man. This happened all in 9th grade. Be safe out there guys!

I had gone to the mall with my family when I was 8 and had gotten separated from them. Normally this wouldn't be much of an issue, the thing is, I didn't have my phone with me and we were in a different town. I of course immediately started looking and retracing my steps. I soon realized some lady was in every store I was in and after a bit of (subtle as I could pull off) observation, I confirmed that whenever I sped up or anything or changed directions she did the same. So I turned on my heel after a bit, ran up to a group with dark hair like mine, and hugged one while yelling 'BIG BROTHER' and threw in some fake tears for effect. Thankfully the guy caught on and the group let it happen (quite awkwardly ngl XD). Eventually the woman left me alone, and I let up on the tears and stared at the group for a bit before explaining quietly. Thankfully they called my favorite brother over and over till he decided to pick up, and I quote, 'the strange spammer'(end quote)s number and they eventually met up and dropped me off. I am still in contact with them actually! They're some of my closest friends! (and we kept the sibling act up for shits and giggles in public places, and because why not)

I was at a salon waiting to get my hair cut, then this guy walks in and sits next to me, I thought it was normal until he put his hand on the same arm rest as me, Just mind that I am a 13 year old and this guy looks about 40 years old, he then holds my hand, I’m panicking at this point, I see a woman across the shop and look at her and act surprised, “Hey! Aunt Katie! How’ve you been? I haven’t seen you in so long” I get up and walk over to her, I sit next to her and whisper in her ear “That man is trying to hold my hand, I’m 13, now please, please act like you know me” she acted like I had just told her family gossip, she possibly could’ve saved my life

when i was like four, i was riding a carousel with my cousins, and when we were getting off, they decided to have a race to our parents. they were all a little bit older than me so they were faster and i lost them really quickly (it was a very busy amusement park). i burst into tears and sat on a curb near the ride, hoping theyd come back when they realized i was gone, but a man approached me. thankfully (and surprisingly) he took me to the child care center and walked me to the phone so i could call my mom. i was still bawling my eyes out cause now i didnt know what my moms phone number was, but in the midst of that nonsense, she came in and found me. i didnt even realize why my mom was so panicked until a long time later. but im very thankful that i was lucky enough to have escaped that situation with my family.

tldr: i got lost, a man approached me, and thankfully he took me to a worker to get help, and did not kidnap me.

get your popcorn because this one’s LONG:
i was 13 and my friend and i were getting lunch. after we got lunch we ate the lunch in the shopping center across the street. we sat down, ate lunch, and then went into the craft store. in the craft store, i encountered a man that was somewhat familiar to me. he and his family lived on my street (he had a daughter who was in my grade who had special needs). he was known for going up to teenagers and saying things like “are you a model? you are so beautiful, here is my card for my modeling agency.” although, not it a nice way. this was in a creepy way. anyways, we saw this man in the craft store and he said “hello! it’s been so long you have grown so much since i have last seen you!” keep in mind, the last time i had talked to him, i was eight. so i just ended the conversation and walked away as fast as i could. i rushed my friend into an aisle and said “okay let me fill you in. that is dad. he’s known for being really creepy. and has a pretty bad criminal record” and she was like “what a coincidence! that’s the same guy that was sitting in his car outside of where we got our lunch…… and the place where we were eating it…….” and that’s when it clicked. he had been FOLLOWING US AROUND IN HIS CAR, WATCHING US EAT, AND FOLLOWING US INTO THE STORE. this was one of the scariest things that had happened to me considering that this man was at least 50 and i was only 13.
thank you for reading and i wish that nobody had to got through these things.

I was 14 and already knew never to approach cars if a stranger called out they were lost and needed help. My junior high was right across a Main Street from my neighborhood and I always walked home because my dad worked til 6 pm. One day I was walking home and man in a pickup truck began trying to call me over, saying he was lost. I stayed across the street from him, and told him I couldn’t help him and was expected at home. He tried to ask me some very personal question, and when I refused to answer and kept walking away, began screaming at me about what he was going to do to me after he found my house. I was seconds away from running up to a random house but my friend came walking around the corner at that moment. I called to her using a fake name and that we needed to get her dad, and I heard the truck peeling out of our neighborhood. 10 years later I saw a news report that looked just like him, that he was arrested two states away under suspicion of breaking into single women’s homes and assaulting them, and had killed one of them. Idk if it was him but I still get chills.

one time when i was 9, it was at the end of school, parents picking their kids up u know, stuff like that. My sister picked me up and she had a serious face, she told me that “there is a car infront of our house. get the keys quickly when we get there.” I nodded, when we were walking, i saw the car infront of our house it was a silver car. We started to walk quickly . I struggled to get the right keys. She took it out of my hands and did it herself because im dumb not remembering the right keys 💀. when we were inside i looked in the windows and they had a hat so i couldnt see who they were. then they finally left. i was scared walking after school after that incident. STAY SAFE

Once I almost got kidnapped, this was 5 years ago (I was 9) and I was at school, the teacher's phone rang and she answered it, then told me "Maxine your going home, " I said "no, because my parents tell me if I am gonna have a early dismissal" and I sat there for 20 mins before she called the dean, by then the dean came and said "Ok, I'll go see if it's your parents" 2 mins after he left, he came back and said "Maxine, they arnt your parents but we can go check if you know them" I WAS SCARED TO HELL so he takes me out there to check if I knew this 60 year old man and I said "no", this man grabbed me, so I bit him, he got arrested, and holy s--t I was scared. And that, kids is why you can never be too careful.

for anyone wondering, the story ends with the woman taking the man’s phone, going into the deleted album, and deleting the picture. So she is safe and okay.

Edit: GUYS MY INBOX IS DEAD CUZ OF YALL
One day my mom sent me down to the gas station with money for some soda and gummy worms because it was a reward for doing chores, I was grabing my purse when I saw my pocket knife on my nightstand I was considering bringing it and was leaning towards not. I thought for a bit then decided i'll bring it. When I was in the back of the gas station and at the soda fridge thing there was a man glancing at me. I ignored it grabbed a sprite and went to where the candy was, this man THIS MAN came from behind me and grabbed me. He had his arms around me neck and I was kicking while he had his hand over my mouth. I remebered my pocket knife and grabbed it out of my purse and opened it as quickly as I could and cut his leg. He let me go and I ran up to the front to the cashier and the man came up all chill and said "Sorry about my daughter she has anxiety." I started bawling because im only 13 and was overstimulated and i told the lady I do not know this man. She called the police and I called my mom to pick me up. I never leave my house without my pocket knife or pepper spray.

NEVER PUT YOUR ADDRESS ON YOUR DOG COLLAR! Put your phone number. Our collar currently says, “Oh 💩, I’m lost AF! Please call my mom, she’s probably ugly crying” and then the phone number.

ETA: Y’all, I got two puppies and now I need two new silly sayings to give them. Open to suggestions if you have them. Ol’ girl Luna still has her sassy tag! Our boy Mikey’s tag said, I got lost cruising for 🐩s. Have your people call my people. I need something funny for these pups now!

I was 17 and a man grabbed me outside Walmart and tried to pull me into a van. People everywhere and I'm screaming for help and the only thing that saved me was grabbing the handle on the newspaper vending machine that was bolted into concrete. Now those machines don't exist. Security approached me and said they saw everything and asked if I was okay instead of calling the police.

Dear ladies, carry two knives. Teach your children how to be responsible with a small knife especially girls. Teach them the distress signal. Teach them how to defend themselves.

Since we are all telling stories, I have one to share too.

A few years ago, me and my friend were walking up and down our towns Main Street after school minding our very own business when we accidentally bumped into an older lady. She was nice about it and said sorry, but for some reason she slowed down behind us, and now that I’m thinking about it, we were not currently near a single store since we were walking across the road. Anyway, we hadn’t really paid much attention to it but I still had a very weird feeling about it. Eventually, me and my friend came across this store that my aunt used to work at and I pointed it out to her, I almost went in there but I’m glad I didn’t because the lady behind us had walked up the two stairs, opened the door, and peeked her head in there saying “cool store..” . I know she might just be trying to have a nice interaction with some teenagers but to me that was a bit different. Me and my friend instantly gave each other the look 👀 and started speeding up, I made an excuse out loud that I had to go to the bathroom and me and my friend made two sharp corners and hid. We sat there for about 5 minutes to make sure she pasted us but when she did, she was clearly looking around while speed walking. Nothing serious happened to us but I feel like I had to share it. Let me know if this was just a sweet old lady who wanted a nice interaction but ended up feeling bad that she creeped someone out, or if me and my friend avoided getting..yk.

Me and my friend were walking around town alone when I noticed an older man was in front of us. He slowed down at a certain point so that we would go in front of him. I started getting weirded out when 5 minutes later he was still behind us. I told my friend about it and she agreed that it was kind of suspicious. So we went into a gas station nearby. He followed us inside. We began to walk around and he followed us into every single isle we went through. One of the employees stopped to ask him if he was finding everything okay. We took that opportunity to walk out of the store, and then run. Once we ran far enough away, we called her mom and got picked up by her. Although I can never be quite sure if he was actually following us or intending anything bad, it was still pretty freaky. We were only 11 at the time.

I was walking home one day and about a half block from my house, a guy I knew pulled up and asked if I wanted a ride, but he was going the opposite way and I instantly got a bad vibe off him so I said no thanks. He started insisting and swearing at me, but I kept refusing until he drove off. I ran home and called my bf, who came running. I found out later that the guy was on some pretty hard drugs at the time. He's cleaned up since then, and he flat out told me it was a good thing I refused to get in the car.
