Robert is back with a very special COP26 news episode filmed in Glasgow this week joined by the wonderful Euan McTurk.

From questionable stories about private jets flying rich people to Glasgow, to reports of a staggeringly high number of fossil fuel lobbyists attending, this episode is packed full of news around the event. Robert also looks at the recent gas crisis in the UK and asks if iron air batteries could be the future.

Let us know what you think below - has COP26 delivered some green wins or just more greenwashing?

Dang, I love when Fully Charged have seriously knowledgeable scientists on. Euan is great: knowledgeable and ready to discuss a range of topics at varying levels of detail but wise enough to say "I don't want to guess much further until there's some more information out"

I spend not a small amount of time telling people hydrogen is likely just fossil fuel companies just finding another use for their natural gas with the long term "promise" of green hydrogen.

I went to Glasgow four years ago, my week was spoiled by the horrific vibrating busses and the stench of diesel fumes my two small children and my asthmic other half were forced to breath in.
I promised never to go again until things had improved.

Euan is the reason I got an EV! Videos in his channel are the best!

After moving to New Zealand from Scotland 4 years ago I fell I've sadly stepped back 30 years in renewable progress and mindset. Such a shame as NZ could be 100% green with so little effort

I grew up in Glasgow in the 1950’s/60s . It had a fleet of electric buses then.
Some numpty decided to get rid of them and filled the city with toxic diesel buses. Along with winter smog’ Glasgow was one of the most toxic polluted cities in the world . Great to see electric buses making a comeback.

I want one of those homes. Even if it’s a tiny house! In a terrace! As long as it has a garden to grow food

The biggest news actually was VW's refusal to join the 2040 agreement. They've been the most vocal about EVs, but their refusal to join the 2040 agreement shows their true intentions.

Today, in Glasgow, on bicycle going to work, I was waiting for the lights to go red behind a bus. I gave it 10 metres or so because of the expected fumes. However, I need not have bothered. It was a Chinese electric bus, not BYD but another make I had not heard of. It wasn't a COP26 special, it was a genuine bus going to Paisley and beyond. I think a day on the busses in Glasgow would make a great episode of Fully Charged, taking a good 40 minutes or so of journey on one of these busses to help get people off their bicycles and onto nice quiet, wifi enabled busses.

Phenomenal, high quality information & wonderful enthusiasm! Will rewatch to be able to quote Euan, the next time some head in the sand twit comes out with all the usual mis-informed doom mongering.
I’d agree that FC really is substantially ahead of the info the UK government have access to, as none of this good stuff comes through from them, or, sadly, on MSM channels.
All the more reason to keep up the good work! Thank you for a great episode!

Enjoyed your knowledgeable guest Euan with lots of statistics on batteries.

Thank you Robert for sticking with it all these years. I started following you doing podcasts with comedians in cars, then the Mitsubishi I-MiEV onwards. The professionalism you guys bring to the game is brilliant. Next, you’ll be hosting a panel on behalf of the government I suspect and helping them plan new urban transport systems. Get more young people on the show and maybe try and get Greta the Great on the show.

"It's made of girders"

So, it's an IRN-BRU battery, then? :D

Hardly a COP26 round-up. But it's a joy to hear someone who clearly knows what they're talking about simply talking about it without oratory, ranting, or catch-phrasing. 👍
