ID is “that” element, class is “that type of” element

Like the gents said above you can style a single element with an ID but with classes you can style all elements holding that class selector. Also ID's have a higher specificity to class's

The difference is that with id you can add style and select as object only one element meanwhile class selector may be applied to many elements of same class
