One of my favourite lines from Gerald's "The History and Topography of Ireland" occurs shortly after his section on the beaver where he comments on reptiles that are missing from Ireland and states in a matter of fact fashion that "It (Ireland) has no dragons" which I'm sure would have eased the mind of many medieval travelers contemplating a trip to Ireland.

Your dog is really cute! I really enjoyed this video. I have been meaning to read the works of Gerald for some time, perhaps you know an edition of one or all of his works you highly reccomand? I wil certainly buy Myself as Witness as I love historical fiction and the time of king John and the other early Plantagenets!

He didn't much like the Irish. Well, compared to view of the Welsh.

The reason why he's not remembered is the same as everything else from Wales. Many entertainment and Education systems is often focused on Anglo influences, despite the tiny Countries like Wales, Scotland and Ireland having just as much of an influnces on Countries such as the U.S and Canada.

For example, the father rof the U.S Navy was Joshua Humphreys, A Welsh American.

Btw, doesn't really matter how much Welsh blood in his veins, if it was proven then he had the right to describe himself as Welsh. What do you think of his recording of the famous old Welsh man and his conversation with the king of England?
