A black & white video created by painting a whole room (including myself) in shades of grey. All footage was captured on camera in colour.

Awesome experimental video. I first thought this was very good color correction, but it turning out to be painted in shades of gray is really incredible. Everything was mostly procedural as objects were switched out or poured but the amount of painting done is a good amount of work that pays off.

This is how they made the shot that goes from sepia tone to full color in The Wizard of Oz. They didn't have the technology to do that in the film process, but they could paint the whole house interior and a Dorothy double sepia, pan the camera out the door to the brightly colored landscape, and swap to the real and not sepia-painted Judy Garland.

Pegasus Theater in Dallas Texas started doing performances in what they call living black and white about 35 years ago. It's a remarkable experience to see.
I think that produced at least one show like that every year ever since, and it's always a hit with audiences. Seeing it in person is absolutely stunning
