Africa’s Most Promising Country?

#Ghana, considered by many to be the greatest paradigm of economic development for African countries, has been enjoying one of the best economic positions in impoverished sub-Saharan #Africa for the past 40 years.

However, this shining African star has come up against one of the biggest brakes for developing economies: debt. The region is being plagued by this phantom that already haunted Latin America in the 1980s, and collapse seems imminent.

How did Ghana become the perfect example to follow in Africa? And how has it also become an example to avoid in recent years? Are we at the beginning of a new era of deep crisis in Africa?

Ghana was an economic success until 2016 where the Akufo-Addo and Bawuliar administration took over.

For context of how bad they performed the exchange rate under previous presidents was.

Kufuor = $1: GHC1
Atta Mills = $1 : GHC 2
Mahama = $1 : GHC 3.8
Akufo-Addo = $1 : GHC 16

Ghana is in a very rough patch but elections are in November and hopefully a new government can turn things around.

I love my Ghana, was just there in February, took my wife to.see it she didn't ant to return to the states and the reality is am not Ghanaian but I went to school and spend my teen years in GH as we call it. So enjoyable. I am going to move there in few years

Who says that what’s we think about Africa? Most people don’t know a single thing about Africa period. And honestly this war and famine makes me think of the Middle East more then anything and now Europe now that the 10 year Ukrainian conflict is exploding which has been raging since 2014. Most people think of Africa they think Nelson Mandela. Blood diamonds and precious metals oil.

I find it ironic that Ghana's currency became really weak during the time when their president stopped the sell of cocoa to the west advocating for adding value to export chocolate instead, sometimes economic hitmanship happens to countries that want to get more from their resources

How does kenya survive? Compared to Ghana we are very resource poor. Imagine the gold, cocoa, aluminium and oil exports Ghana has. Very strange.
