Sally Ride was the first American woman in space. She was a mission specialist on the seventh space shuttle mission and operated the shuttle’s robotic arm. Ride was known for her friendly and relaxed personality, but also her intense focus. She felt responsible for paving the way for women in space. Ride’s performance and skill, alongside her four male colleagues, made her a symbol of equality.

I met her as a kid. She was super friendly to me. Besides Hadfield she is the other astronaut that to me wasn't selfish and openly shared and engaged people.

She died in 2012 of pancreatic cancer but she achieved great things (whatever you may think about her as I read a couple of negative comments below). Here's to you Sally for your achievements. I neve want to go out into outer space, I don't even like boats and the sea / lakes, she had courage that's for sure.

She was smart, gorgeous, and by all accounts a warm and humble person.

My daughter got a quarter with her on the back of it. We immediately came to this video to learn about Sally. What an inspiration to all females.

Let it Ride by BTO (one of my favorite bands) was written with Sally in mind. As a band, they were huge fans of hers and were actuallu at the launch of her shuttle.

Things I wanna see take place before I get old and end up dead.

1.) see a woman walk on the moon.

2.) see a woman be the first to set foot on planet mars.

3.) see a woman become the president of the United States 🇺🇸.

Breaking the Highest Glass Ceiling. First American woman in space was a Lesbian. How cool is that. 🏳‍🌈 Why is that not mentioned here?

It would be great if you would mention her orientation, to inspire not only girls but also LGBT kids. I feel this video erases that part of her identity.
