Remarkably, slow lorises are among the few venomous mammals; they access their toxin by licking glands near their armpits and delivering it through their bite, which can cause severe allergic reactions in humans. These nocturnal primates may use their venom for defense and possibly to protect their young by spreading it on them to deter predators.
