Exciting news from Sony for a7iv users. There is a new firmware update available, from V1.00 to V1.01. In this video, I show you how to update it and talk about some of the improvements made in this update as well as whether this firmware update addresses overheating issues.

1. Why does Sony take so long with firmware updates? It took them 4 months to release a firmware update that could have been made, tested and released for download all in less than a month or even less than that. People started complaining about overheating and min.dist.focus issues in January and the firmware was just released 2 weeks ago. Even dead Olympus responded to users in a shorter time frame and released firmware updates more frequently...
2. Why and how the hell does a 2, 600 EUR product have overheating and focusing issues in the first place?! What kind of a manufacturer allows this to happen? And then they don't even recall the shipments, they just blatantly and shamelessly tell the users to force change settings to avoid these issues that shouldn't have been there in the first place?!
3. Why are Sonys firmware updates to vaguely described!? Is it that hard to post a well written, fully detailed description with clear, precise and exact changes that will take place upon installing it?! Is it?! This just looks like Sony doesn't even care anymore or they are being lazy - which ever one it is, it's not good...

I'm starting to regret my a7IV order with each and every day that passes... I'm THIS close to just stopping my switch to Sony, returning the a7IV for my money back and investing into Hasselblads X system instead... I don't even own a Sony product, I only have one on order and I'm already having a terrible experience...

i went euro trip in winter shoots hours of video & photos and then go back my hometown in humid condition shooting corporate video all day long.. its a workhorse, no overheating issues at all

Very good guide for those of us who did not know how to update these cameras, only that I am a Mac m1 user and I will have to look at how to install the driver and according to what I saw in the installation instructions, some security term must also be changed for Mac m1 users, we hope your opinions about overheating if it improved with respect to the previous version in more demanding tests, thanks!!! 👍

My a7iv’s (i have 2) freeze and lock up where nothing works. Not even turning it off. I have to pull the battery and put it back it. It’s happened with both my a7iv bodies.

Ive never faced the overheating issue.. But then again I have it on HIGH and recording on a CF type A card. Plus I shoot in small clips. I probably rarely go past the 2 min mark on recording and turn off the camera when im not shooting lol. Just figured id throw it out there.

Hello sir could you tel me witch lens i choose for a7iv 4k 60fps crop to cover 4k 60fps full frame without loosing resolution?

Mine feels alarmingly warm starting from 15-20 minutes of nonstop recording 4k. Longer than that i feel unsafe for the camera.
15-20 minutes is my safe recording limit.

I hope sony would solve this like adding options to record likely the same quality but having video settings that has lower stress to the camera. Don't know if that is possible.
