I love hearing David Sedaris tell stories, I don't like reading them at all.

Oh no, your lovely dog has been ill- not good, hope she's doing better Rick. Luckily I'm never likely to pick up RPO but I am intrigued by Lucia- please read as soon as it arrives so we can hear your thoughts!

I just discovered your channel not long ago and I love all your videos and recommendations. They're so unique compared to what other booktubers are mentioning and I really enjoy that

Oh Rick! If I didn't like you so much I would have some words for you regarding David Sedaris. I'm kidding. I can definitely see him not being for everyone. I've listened to him reading his essays quite a bit and that helped to animate the texts. I also adore his sister, so the family stories are made more hilarious. As an aside, Yale University acquired a bunch of Sedaris' journals for their manuscript library. At least Yale appreciates him! (Again, totally kidding...you're my favorite)

This tag is so much fun!! And it’s quite different from the others, as soon as you read the questions I was trying to answer in my mind and it was more challenging than what I thought! Might do this :P

I don’t get David Sedaris either. I watched some of his interviews and they were quite entertaining but then I tried listening to Calypso and I was so bored I didn’t even get through the first chapter :/

I've read two Murakami books (Kafka on the Shore and Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki) and loved them both! Also, I'd be interested in your opinion on Ready Player One. I've never read the book, but I enjoyed the movie.

I haven't read Ready Player One, but I'm always up for a good rant. Do it!

Despite your busy schedules/hermetic tendencies, I am now holding out hope for a crossover video with you and Laura! 😄

I work in marketing, too! I’m in radio, selling air time and writing commercials. What do you do, specifically? I have absolutely no use for marketing books. I’ve got radically different ideas on marketing from most people in the industry.

That book about King Arthur sounds fabulous.

I had no idea James Joyce was such a prick.

I agree with you completely about David Sedaris

I really liked Ready Player One first time I read it. It gripped my attention and I found treasure hunt aspect of it fascinating. Looking back to it I'm not so sure if it was a good book :D Negative review could be fun to watch :D Bookdepository is great if it delivers on time. My packages got lost a few times or I had to wait for a month for my book to arrive :D

The reason I loved Ready Player One is that I love the idea of VR gaming on a super futuristic level. I don't think it was a perfect book, lots of awkward moments in the story. it's like the author put all his creepy into his character. The IDEA would probably go over a lot better with a better author.

Ohhh, how comes you didn't finish 1Q84 and what makes you want to pick it up again?
It is a pretty big book if you buy the bind up of all three of them, which is the one I think I have. I must say it's one of my favourite Murkami novels, I'm not a fan of his short story collections, and I don't know how much I'll enjoy his latest one, but yeah - theres something very insidious about 1Q84 which still kind of haunts me.
It's always interesting that you enjoyed the Skystone book so much more the second time around, I probably wouldn't have picked it up after disliking it the first time around, this is making me wonder if there's any of my low star rated books that I would really enjoy now that I'm a bit older (and maybe wiser? hahaha probably not...)
The whole question about saying you've read a book without doing so makes me laugh, and wonder if many people do do it, it seems a lot of Booktubers don't... but then I remember just how often I did this at uni, when we were expected to read like 3 plays every week, and some of the modules where we examined eras of theatre that bored me, then I definitely went through all those seminars talking about a book I hadn't read hoping that the professor wouldn't know... I'm sure they did know... it must be pretty obvious. But I totally feel you, I rarely DNF books, and so I never want to rate on Goodreads until I've finished, so often times, I just click remove from shelves to save me the fear of one day being asked about it hahaha. Two is still a decent rating for a book you really didn't like that much ha!
I feel like I wouldn't want to lend you a book at any point... poor Kendal.
LOVE that you still haven't read Love Letters of the Angel of Death... haha, I very much enjoyed that story and sounds like something I would absolutely do, you must read it nowww, how could you put it off any longer?
Ugh, Ready Player One... I cannot understand how people can get pleasure in it, I was constantly like.. what? What is this? Is this real? AND THEN IT GOT ADAPTED INTO A FILM!? Honestly, the world sometime... but I would TOTALLY be down to watch a series of you literally tearing it to pieces.
Also, it always makes me happy to hear people supporting physical book shops, hopefully BookDepository won't take over your life too much ;)
Hope your dog feels better

Okay, I was commenting as I go, but I think I must address the Jennifer Quist book first. No, you did not tell me you had bought another copy. And yes, I had it for at least two years, maybe even 2 and a half. And I knew, before you even said it, that you haven't read it yet. Haha. "That's so Rick". I will email you. I am in hermit mode these days too but especially when Canada Reads starts up I will need someone to complain to.

Book Depository has bad shipping though!! Blackwells is better! I DNF'd a Sedaris book too. Totally underwhelmed. Ugh marketing books. And business books in general. They're all SO BAD. Why. Someone just told me to read "Nudge" and I don't want to.

I like David Sedaris but agree he's quite overrated.

I FEEL SO VALIDATED BY YOUR OPINION OF DAVID I agree that he's so overrated. He's not nearly as interesting or endearing as he thinks he is.
