Have you ever requested for thyroid testing and been denied? This is commonly reported to me by patients.

I think that’s just crazy!

Your thyroid is a big part of your endocrine system — the system that controls all hormones in the body (including those that affect your fertility and menstrual cycle). It’s also responsible for your metabolism (how your body converts food into energy).

If your thyroid isn’t functioning properly, your reproductive system will often suffer.

It’s time for this week’s episode of Fertility TV! Today I’m talking all about the relationship between thyroid health and infertility.

Have been having Hashimoto for almost 3 years find out about it after miscarriage. I have pituitary adenoma. Don't have family history or they just don't know. My doctor one time did for me full panel or almost full panel for thyroid and after that she doesn't want to do more testing even though I was struggling with severe migraines, digestive issues, high blood pressure and infertility. She said that my blood work is great and I am healthy I just have an anxiety. Since I was extremely disappointed in doctors I started my own research. And your channel helped me a lot. So now I don't have any of my symptoms and I'm pregnant.
Thank you and your team a lot!💕

I just found out about this video. Thanks for explaining about the thyroid disease. I have family history of thyroid. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in high school. I have been taking Levothyroxine for many years, and my TSH and T4 is under control. You were right, my OB and even endocrinologist refuse to test my TPO and thyrogloblin because my TSH and T4 were fine. My RE tested and turned out my two thyroid antibodies were rocket high. I am not sure what to do because my endocrinologist said I am fine. It doesn't feel right to me. how to hear from your advice. Thank you =)

I’ve had Graves’ disease since 2015, wouldn’t respond to treatment so I had 2 rounds of RAI, now been hypo since November 2019, been TTC for 22 cycles and have gained so much weight, take 200mcg of levothyroxine and there hasn’t even been a hint of a pregnancy! I’m so mentally drained by it I am on the verge of just admitting that it won’t happen

Thank you so much for this! I am 38 years old, 125 lbs and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2012. My father also had hypothyroidism. I have been stable on levothyroxine 137 mcg but I am currently trying to conceive with one unknown miscarriage as of recent. I had my lab results checked in April of this year where my TSH was 4.06 and my T4 was 1.10.
I just had my levels checked again in June where my TSH is now 0.221 and my T4 is 1.95, T3 is 3.2.
I’m having a hard time understanding why there is such a stark difference between my levels from just that amount of time. My fertility doctor was having me tested to see about chances of being infertile. I am also taking supplements, I have regular menstrual cycles every month, ovulated this month as well with my level being at 14. I’m just having a hard time understanding why now it’s put me in the hyper bracket instead of hypo?

I just learned after learning my thyroid is enlarged (even though 2 1/2 years ago after not getting pregnant for about 6 months I asked to have my thyroid levels checked and I was told everything was fine and completely normal at a level 9. Which I now know is high)that my paternal aunt had issues with her thyroid. I’m on metformin now, going on about 2 weeks. But I just feel like this isn’t going to solve my issues. My husband and I have been TTC for 3 years. It’s so exhausting and frustrating.

I have a history of thyroid issues. My (maternal) mom, aunt and grandmother. My mom isn’t on medication. But I have had difficulty getting pregnant/staying pregnant. It was until I went to the doc in December 2020. Labs came back and my tsh levels were 4.4, so they put me on levothyroxine for 3 months. I had labs again as a follow up got my labs back today and my tsh is 1.7 now. Do I have any chances on conceiving soon?

I was wrongfully put on Levothyroxine over a year ago. My thyroid was all in the normal range, but the PA had me convinced that I needed it. She didn't test my thyroid until over a year later (around 14 months). My liver enzymes were elevated, my thyroid was in hyperthyroid and my periods were only lasting about 3 days. I just miscarried less than a week ago and my TSH is non existent. I am not sure that is what caused it, but now my Free t4 and free t3 are JUST now returning to a normal range, but my TSH is less than .01. I am now going to see an endocrinologist and a fertility doctor. I am 37 years old and it has been almost 2 years since she put me on that medication and almost a year ago (this next October) since I stopped taking it.

I have under active thyroid since 2002. I have been taking my meds everyday since then. My first pregnancy I lost early on. My second pregnancy ended at 20 weeks due to incompetent cervix, that was in 2017. I had been trying to get pregnant since then. I found out this year that I am Anemic and just had gallbladder surgery so hopefully with those care of I can get pregnant. Dr Marc I want to know more about Incompetent cervix.

Dr. Sklar, thank you so much for your videos! I miscarried on 5-14-20. My TSH is 4.0. I may have autoimmune issues (had breast implants for 13 years that almost killed me). What suppplements do you recommend for autoimmune issues? What amount of nature throid would you put me on? I can't find a dr that will put me on any thyroid medication. I'm desperate to become pregnant again! Thank you!
