Because my main character Andre is not sympathetic, I've got to do some research to figure out how to write unlikeable yet sympathetic characters and learn some tricks I can use out of the gate, look at my manuscript as a whole, and unlock the secrets of the masters.

Last video (ish), I know I recomended making your character hot. After further reflection, I realized (for me) that a character's hotness has very little to do with their description. In the Queen's Theif series, we get very little description of the main character. Mainly that he's small when I prefer taller men, yet I classify him as hot, because he does clever things and admist being the biggest prat in the series does gueninely nice things for people in need. He solves problems, and only is a jerk to people who he knows can take it. Kaladin from the Stormlight Archive is another character who I classify as hot but physically he's not that different from Zane (Mistborn) and they both brood. Zane I found pathetic while Kaladin is sympathetic, because Kaladin cares about people.
