Wycliff Kinyama made history by successfully defended his crown at the Commonwealth Games in Burmingham, England with a hard run in his favorite event.
Kinyama made his move with about 250 meters left in the race and held off a last-minute charge by the Australian Peter Bol who ran 1:47.66, finishing just 0.14 seconds behind the defending champion.
After advancing to the final with the fastest time and entering as the favorite, Bol who was attempting to become the second man for Australia to win the event, battled tooth and nail with Kinyamal but was unable to overcome the Kenyan’s big lead down the straight and was forced to settle for second place.
