The older I get and the more I reflect on previous relationships, the more I understand Davy Jones.

Jones never struck me as pure evil. He was at one point, a dude that felt love, but the betrayal was too much, and even though he became corrupted, deep down, he still has some feelings.

Still, he’s no doubt an evil dude, but lord becket was even worse. Not only did he order pirates to be murdered, (whether it’s a child or not), and used Jones to take over the seas. I do wonder if Jones would kill an unarmed child? Becket would do it, but would Jones do it?

Regardless, Jones was no doubt an evil dude, and deserves to be punished for making others suffer for no good reason.

Davy Jones heartbreak story is one of the most interesting love stories and here’s how. In my opinion, we are talking about a love between a human mortal and a heathen god. Jones devoted to Calypso’s duty to ferry souls to the afterlife with the Flying Dutchman. After 10 years, he will step foot on land to meet Calypso and when he finally did it, Calypso was nowhere to be found. As mortal humans, we immediately interpret it as being stood up. But remember because Calypso is the goddess of the sea, she is unpredictable just like the seas, so she is still with Davy Jones no matter what.

Back to Jones himself as a human, he felt stood up and betrayed after 10 long years of devotion for nothing. So he committed an act of betrayal by summoning the Brethren Court to bind Calypso to her human form, and he carved out his heart so that he will no longer feel any regrets. He then abandoned his sacred duties, transforming him into the monster he was and became the terror of the seas.

Pirate Captain Davy Jones broke his promise of Love to the woman in his life.
Calypso. Who turned out to be the queen of the sea beast (with Goddess powers). So she got "Mad" at him, and "punished" him.
She "casts" a "curse" on Davy Jones and his crew on the Pirate Ship: "The Flying Dutchman". They were neither alive nor dead. But undead (spirits of the night) and appeared as "ghosts" with sea animal features. Davy Jones as Squid Man.
And his heart was locked in a casket (Deadman's chest).
Keeper of the key, was himself.
The ship was bewitched and turned out to be a ghostly pirate ship.
With a strange crew.
With strange magic.
