It's that time of year again: the Barnes and Noble Hardcover Book Sale after Christmas! This year the sale is a bit different so I explain the new discount breakdown and share my book haul from the sale.

I went to the sale the first day and I learned both premium and regular rewards members get the $20 rewards per $50. I spent $95 so I should be getting that reward since I’m a rewards member.

Thank you for the heads up about the Barnes and Noble 50% off of hard backs. I do appreciate it very much, it's like they don't want you to shop in the store, it makes no sense to me.

Hi. Your channel was just a "recommended channel" and I'm do glad! I needed to chat this sale and the membership silliness with others. I am not impressed. The employees knew even less about the sale. I asked about the 50% from my email because all the signs in the store were marked 33%. The girl told me EVERY hardcover is 50% and signs were wrong. I knew that was wrong and pointed out the word "select". I only bought 1 hardcover and received the 33%. Lots of paperbacks. I like holding books and browsing, but honestly, there is too much competition. I primarily shop independent shops, 2nd hand, and borrow from my library. A few from Amazon, but Amazon may win over B&N in the future. There are no rewards for the higher prices

So I went the first day of the sale and found out the same thing about the ones online that were 50% off weren’t that in store lol luckily it was when I first got there so I did a pickup order while I browsed around and then found two I bought that were 33% off. I got my normal points for stamps and then today I checked and I got $40 in rewards now. I am a regular rewards member. I’m glad they didn’t make it exclusive to the premium members. I can’t afford $40 a year and they never send coupons out the way they used to and the premium members seem to not get anything special except the 10% off and sometimes that doesn’t stack lol this time though it did stack with the 33% off books if you have premium. Yeah this sale can be confusing lol 😂

Here in the UK - Waterstones USED to do (a couple years ago) 50% off HBs. It changed last year. It sucked. I’d saved all my rewards through the year for the sale and it was such a left down. Don’t get me wrong. There’s still a sale. Its 50% off only certain books. The list is very very short. Same happened again this year. I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s totally different again next year since Waterstones and Barns are owned and run the same people. So sad. I miss the amazing sale.

I loved their older membership and this new one is a joke. I won't be using it and will probably shop somewhere else.
