Three people in hospital and one missing after suspected gas explosion in Swansea

One person remains unaccounted for and three people have been taken to hospital following a suspected gas explosion in Swansea.

Emergency services were called at just after 11.20am on Monday to an explosion at an address on the junction of Clydach Road and Field Close in Morriston.

Images from the scene appear to show one house has collapsed and another is badly damaged, with debris strewn into the street.

South Wales Police said other neighbouring properties were also damaged by the blast, which shook houses miles from the scene.

I lived on a main street that suffered a catostrophic Gas Friggup.
the Tarmac rolled like Water and several buildings were annihalted.

It's amazing how when years ago plumbers did all the gas instalations without any qualification but there were never any houses getting blown up. Now you can go on a corse and become a qualified gas engineer in a couple of months, and now we hear of one after another massive gas explosions and the deaths of people because of it. This is what happens when you get people chasing high wages that have no love or understanding of engineering.

This is why we need to move away from gas and into renewable solar, hydro and wind energy etc. How much is a life worth.... with gas there are huge risks. I hope 5hose missing were not in that property.

Im not surprised. British houses r made from cheap materials in cheap way so even cigaret ligters explosion can ground entire building.

Terrible mess my thoughts go out to the death of the man and his family terrible terrible why so many gas explosions these days too many of them. Only a few months ago there was one in jersey that killed 9 people and another one in london that killed a little girl only months apart another one in kingstanding birmingham must be about 6 of them in the last year alone it's scary I hope they find out what caused it and prevent it from happening again.
