A new bipartisan bill, the Back to Work Act (S. 4266), introduced by Senators Mitt Romney (R-Utah) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), aims to limit telework for federal employees. The legislation mandates that federal workers spend at least 60% of their work hours in-person, effectively capping telework at 40% of their workdays per pay period.

I am much more productive working at home than in the office. Thank you for the video.

👏 All. Of.This. I am much more productive at home. Too many uncontrolled distractions at work. I can eliminate these distractions while at home.

If I went to the local office, no one I work with is assigned there so it would be of zero benefit.

Imagine how many will leave the government if their telework is cut lol.

Show me someone against telework and I'll show you a manager that can't justify their own position because of it. Sure there are actual reasons like team building and company culture, but it really comes down to how important am I the manager if my team still gets things done without me over their shoulder.

Given that I work in IT as a civilian in the air force, if this gets taken away, it would be demoralizing. It's just me and my wife, no kids. All our family is here, so I would have to leave the area to where we know no one if I want a decent chance at moving up in my career. I like my government bennies, but if this passes, they are making the private sector that much more attractive.

Look up Section 504 especially if you are a veteran with PTSD, you can request a reasonable accommodation to work remote due to anxiety and stress.

This is rough news but not surprising with the mass layoffs at private sector companies.

Which jobs are considered “difficult to recruit for”?

My agency had to move from an old facility to a nice, shiny new building in our downtown area, complete with a 20-year lease at some astronomical price AND remodeled about 6 or 7 floors with brand new everything, and NO ONE is down there, or very few, we have a handful of jobs, like mailroom and such that have to be there but the majority of it is vacant! It is such a shame to see the waste of our taxpayer dollars, and with the admin changing every 4 years the waste is insane. When we first started telework we had a nice balance of 2 days per pp telework and other in office, I would think if fair to go back to that.

They could just make the us more attractive. It sucks most cities are boring, expensive, and people are not friendly because they are poor

Great videos Armand! It would be great if you can do a video on Federal employee child care/ day care facilities costs and other options for federal employees. I’ve heard it varies by agency, like DoD and non- DoD agencies.

Wow- Armand, you seem pretty excited in your talking today- but anyway, our whole division of 26 people are remote and have been remote for years and were hired under a remote status -- and if the remote option goes away, I just dont see our 26 people moving to New Mexico - the base of our operations. Kinda like when Trump tried to move two agencies from DC to Colorado-- people quit left and right and to this day, those two agencies have never recovered from the loss of people they had

Of course machin who often supports things that aren't in favor of the people would be for this. I only telework once a week but even that helps with not being pestered and actually getting more important projects and duties finished.

I can feel for local economies...but I feel like the move to remote work and telework has left the station...I think it would be better to repurpose or "right size " the office space market.

Personally, I'm hoping to apply to the Federal government in a couple years and my "business plan" depends heavily on telework as we live in a fairly rural area. I'm open to relocating, but I have to consider my wife's career as well.

Honestly, remote work is also dying in the private sector too. We'd have to start a no shower movement or wear really strong cologne movement to give remote work more traction.
