The Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center (AFOTEC), located at Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M., is a direct reporting unit under Headquarters United States Air Force. It is the Air Force independent test agency responsible for testing, under operationally realistic conditions, new systems being developed for Air Force and multi-service use.

Testing the equipment the soldiers are using is always really important, especially in the air force with the importance of flight safety. If the equipment fails, not only could it result in great damage and a possible loss of an aircraft, but it can and will most likely result in a casualty. So I'm really glad to see, that all the used hardware is going through such rigurous tests.
