You won’t believe what some of these hackers have been able to do. Jonathan James hacked into NASA, the Defense Department, Marshal Space Flight Center, and the International Space Station. Then there’s Albert Gonzalez who led a network of cyber criminals on one of the largest breaches in network security. Vladimir Levin was a Russian student who hacked into Citibank and stole $10 million. It’s scary to think that there are people out there who can easily do these things. By his own admission, Kevin Mitnick was a grey hat who never profited from his hacks, but was curious about what he could find. He even submitted bug reports in some of the code he obtained from Sun & Nokia. Most of what he did and how he did it can be found in the book "Ghost in the Wires"
