When Dragon Ball Games Were Good | Anime Games 12 - Dragon Ball Z: Budokai

With the brand new Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero releasing soon, I have no feelings on it whatsoever! Recent anime games have left me feeling nothing but sympathy for the poor developers with no time or budget to slap together a "game" based on a popular anime IP just so they can pay rent. So i wanted to go back to a simpler time. A time when there was actual effort and love put into a game based on anime. We had all kinds of genres besides the cutout and paste 3D anime arena fighter. Rpgs, platformers, strategy, party games, and of course you can't have a Shonen action anime without a fighting game! One of the greatest of all time, but I'll talk about super dragon ball z another day, today lets see the origins of the budokai games with the original trilogy on PS2, and some PSP exclusives. Long before the days of tenkaichi with 40 forms of Goku and one button combos, we actually had a decent 3D fighting game with genuine effort put into the gameplay and presentation. Unfortunately there isn't much else to do in the game besides fight...

You've missed Burst Limit, Infinite World, DB Evolution. They are literally Budokai games with the exception of their names. Other than great video. I missed playing these game, I still play OG Budokai and SB2.

Edit: Ah man, you did mention those games at the tail end of the video. Infinite World and Burst Limit are pretty decent though.
