Birthday is one of the most awaited day in the life of any IIT or any other college student but the recent trend of GPL in IIT and other engineering college has led to many issues and injuries, due to this birthday in college has become a punishment day.

In this video, we will cover the birthday celebration in IIT, what is GPL, why GPL has become a trend in birthday celebration in college, what a student has to go through during the birthday celebration.

GPL has now become a culture in IIT like IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT kanpur etc. Even the students have started preparing for the GPL when any of their friend's birthday is near.

Such activities like beating with belts, throwing cake, eggs etc are not at all fun activities but these types of activities can destroy someone's bright future.

I am an iitian from iit kgp. I was saved from raging, gpl and all such nonsense by ISKCON. I am not an iskcon devotee. But i do have immense gratitude towards them for saving me from the dog-like iit college culture.

It should be strictly banned and students participating in such acts should be removed from colleges and no college should give them admission for at least 1 year …only if strict action is taken only then students will refrain from such acts …as it also mentally affects students which might also affect their academics or individual personality . I went through college without participating in any of such stupid rituals, the fact that an event like this can turn into a disaster for someone, is quite shameful tbh. My brother faced this during his time at KI**, he was beaten with a belt after he got placed but he is a big dude, years later I got to know from his friends how he legit bashed some of those folks who went the extra mile in hurting them.

This is so true. This happens with a lot of the students ( male ones). My elder sibling is a student in one of the top 7 IITs ( take a hint from this video to know which one) and this happens on the students' birthdays. The student's batchmates and friends get him cake and stuff and then beat him. At first, when he was getting admission into IIT he heard of this "tradition" from some seniors. But we thought this was probably his seniors' idea of a "welcome to IIT" joke. But then, my brother witnessed this and he even got a video of his batchmate getting beaten up by his friends and other batchmates which he sent to us. I don't get what's so enjoyable about beating someone on their b'day and neither does my brother and it's not as if their seniors beat them or force them to keep this tradition going, it's the batchmates who decide to do such a thing. What's even more disheartening is that these people are some of the brightest minds of the country and yet, they take part in such a "tradition". Such a sadistic "tradition".
