I couldn't decide which one to get so I got both, and ultimately decided to keep the 2 and send back the 2X. The main reason being that it was too big on me. I have a 170mm wrist and the watch bezel was extending past my wrist on both sides. I wore it for a day and couldn't stand it. The watch would press into my hand if I did pushups or extended my wrist up, the weight difference was noticeable (probably because I was wearing the 2 for a few days already), the watch constantly got caught on my cuff, and it just didn't look right on my wrist. The watch is awesome for what it is, the white/red LED lights are outstanding for being on a watch, and the extremely long battery life (40+ days I believe) is awesome too. I ALMOST kept the 2X for those features alone, but I couldn't justify it being uncomfortable on me 24/7 to keep. If you have bigger wrists or can manage with the larger size, then definitely get the 2X. Hopefully, they add a light to the 45mm Instinct 3 in the future.

My Instinct 2 solar hits the sweet spot for me in terms of comfort & features. I'll wait to see what the 3 is like, but I'm in no rush to replace the 2 - having owned well over 100 watches, from high-end mechanicals to the cheapest Casios, I find that the Instinct 2 solar tactical is very nearly perfect, and it's been on my wrist daily since I got it a few months back.

Another thing worth mentioning is that Garmin apparently has no intention to add the ”training readiness ” on the Instinct 2 Solar, which comes stock with the Solar 2X. You can tell that the smartwatch industry, much like the mobile phone industry, is really starting to stagnate. Artificial limits to the software features are used more and more. But the Instinct line still punches above it’s league for those who don’t care much for colorful high res screens.

Will be looking to upgrade my Fenix 3 if the Solar 2 gets further pricedrops soon.

Im going to upgrade from the instinct 1 to the instinct 2x. I like the bigger case and bigger battery life. And offcourse the extra features that it offers compare to the first instinct.

why do comments keep referring to the instict3? the 2 took 4 years to release. if it takes that long again the 3 wont come untill 2026...???

The 2X is huge on any wrist.
I have the instinct 2 with no solar. I found out, that the time I had to put it in direct sunlight I could easily get by charging it in a couple of minutes😂
It also lasts long enough for most activities and I live in Denmark, where sunlight is only few months a year.😅
The flashlight also drains battery on the large one, so it is pretty much a selling trick for me.

I already returned my instinct 2x. The red sucks big-time. But my buttons got mushy and didn't click anymore..for 50 more, u can just buy the 955...the instinct 2x is a cash grab...I don't recommend if you already own a instinct or instinct 2.

The instinct 2 also has unlimited with solar, so thats not a difference. The question is, does unlimited is eqsier achieved with the larger solar panel in the 2x

2. do u think u can do me a favor and test their alarm volume? how much louder is the alarm on the 'plain' 2 model? pplz r complaining about 2X being very quiet...
i was checking 'the Internet' and it sounded like plain 2 even had some kind of 'alarm volume' setting (which is not there on 2X).
