Hello Siddharth, Thank you for sharing the information. I recently attended the JSV interview at the Mumbai consulate. They did not ask for insurance at that time even though I had the Travel Health Insurance. But now I received an email asking for Health Insurance with below requirements. I have bought Tata AIG Travel Guard Silver with $ 50000 (I don't have any pre-existing conditions). But the requirements seem very stringent, copied from the Consulate's email as below:

When does a health insurance meet the requirement of being equivalent to a German public health insurance?

· No limit to the reimbursement in case of sickness

· If the insured person becomes sick, no deductible higher than 300 € per year can be demanded

· Preexisting conditions must be included

· No clause for termination regarding the insured person reaching a certain age, change of residence permit or loss of residence permit

· The Insurance cover cannot have any time limit (or needs to be automatically renewed)

· Surpluses are formed to form old-age provisions, i.e. health insurance calculates the product in the manner of a life insurance policy.

Travel health insurances (even if issued for the whole duration of your stay) are not sufficient.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

so what I understand is until you get any job contract , you dont need to take any insurance but can be with the travel health insurance that we bought while visa appointment . I have ICICI lombord which is exactly covering my 6 months tenure.
1. if this health insurance card (ICIC Lombord) will be accepted in krankenhause .
2. Are we covered with this health insurance till we get work contract and get the German public insurance .

Thanks Siddarth in advance on your inputs on the same.

Hi Siddharth, I applied for JSV last Monday at Bangalore. They required the insurance and accommodation to be submitted during the application process itself. I got Bajaj Allianz as well.
