Install Ncurses on Windows 10 (kind of)

In this video I show you the easiest way to get up and running with ncurses on a Windows 10 computer (at least as of the recording of this video in April of 2020).

I say "kind of" in the title because technically we are installing ncurses in Ubuntu WITHIN Windows 10, but for all intents and purposes the installation behaves the same as if you were running natively in Windows.

If I include <curses.h> in a compliler like Clion will it work with this method?

how do i now use ncurses in vs code or codeBlocks, can i add path to ncurses to environment variables ? or did i just instaled linux and ncurses can be run only on linux?

I tried to use the cd command and like u did cd Desktop/ but it says there is no such directory. Can you please help. thank you

How to do the same in Windows 7? This Ubuntu from Microsoft Store is only for Windows 10. I tried cygwin which is also a linux emulator, but it does not support commads like sudo or apt-get.
