Asuna is such a sweetheart to Kirito. Instead of telling him that it wasn't his fault nor felt sorry for him, she comfort him assuring him that she won't die and that she has to protect him and then she hugged him. She understands him (more like loves him). At the end when Kirito lift his hand up to hold Asuna but put it back down, this shows how much that, even though he's in love with her, he truly respects her.

Kirito is just like me (well except for the murder part lol). I've done mistakes in the past that I wasn't proud of myself and the fact I have no desire for people to feel sorry for me nor looking for some sympathy because I learn from my mistakes and I get stronger. My gf (now fiancée) is like Asuna (But Asuna is much sweeter (even though she is just an anime character and she doesn't exist IRL) and my gf (fiancée) agrees with me). When I told her about my past, she knew how to respond to my situation. She held both my hands and said: "It's impossible for people to make no mistakes in their lifetime. Mistakes are meant to happen at least once in our lives. We are not perfect but we are learning every day. That's what makes us strong. As long as the people have someone besides them and that they want to cry on their shoulders, that person will always be there for them."

Later when Asuna threatened to kill herself if kirito never came back after staying behind, it’s because they are both insecure, afraid and fear nearly tore them apart.
But by the end of the day, despite the odds, both of them managed to pull through.
In season 2, even though kirito didn’t tell asuna anything, even though she was upset, instead of threatening him like she did before, she came to cheer him on during his battle with death gun, showing how much they have grown together.

I don't know why but no matter how meny times I watch sao I cry every time I love this story soo much and with the new one being dubbed it is even sadder cos I get this horrible feeling that kirito and asuna won't make it through this one

It's a good thing Kirito doesn't meet Sachi and the other Gilled members parents, image him apologizing to there parent's. ("Sorry I'm responsible for your kids dieing. ") What would they say or do? Would they forgive him? Say it wasn't his fault? Ask him to take responsibility for it? ( Sometimes some Japanese people say that) he dose fill or use to fill guilty about there deaths. But to me it wasn't his fault.
