Watch as Better Homes and Gardens shows you how to hang a picture! Finding the right tools to use for specific wall decor is key, depending on the weight and hanging device on the piece. For lighter or temporary wall art, adhesive strips are the best way to go. Determining how high to hang pictures can be the most difficult part of hanging pictures, but these tips will leave your walls looking sophisticated yet inviting. If you're only hanging one piece, the middle of the artwork should sit at eye level. For multiple pieces, start with the centerpiece at this height and work in the other pieces. Use the following formula to make sure each wall hanging is at eyelevel. Measure the height of your piece and divide by two, then add 57 to that number. This number should be your starting height, so hang the wall art this far up the wall. Each piece of framed art will hang differently, so you may need to compensate for the hanging hardware placement. If your picture hangs from a wire, stretch the wire in the center to mimic how it will behave when hanging. Measure how far the top of the wire is from the top of the art and subtract this from the starting height. Place the nail or screw at this final height on your wall. Sawtooth hangers can be measured much the same way, from the top of the frame to the crest of the middle tooth and subtracting from the starting point. Before hanging any pictures, find out the horizontal placement of the nail or screw. Measure the distance between two reference points in the room and divide by two to find the center point. Measure the final height in relation to the center point, and install the hardware to hang the picture. These wall decor ideas will give guests a welcoming sight when they enter the room!
