Jacob created Crux Stationalis as a social media apostolate to share a very particular tradition from the Eternal City. Every year for Lent, the Diocese of Rome organizes a pilgrimage itinerary, a tradition that goes back to Pope Saint Gregory the Great. The pilgrimage consists of going from one Roman Station Church to the next for every day of Lent and Easter Week. The devotion is particularly centered around devotion to the early Christian martyrs — and the pilgrimage route is primarily based on the desire to visit the tombs of the martyrs. It is where the tradition of the Litany of the Saints came from.

I never knew that St Luke was an artist! It’s astounding that his works would have survived the onslaught of wars over the centuries. The red marble was gorgeous. I’ve never seen such before. Is it common for Churches of that age to be so dark?

One thing I’ve noticed as we go through the tour, is that your narratives have become more passionate about the Savior, as evidenced by the narration ending at 3:20. Your words deepen the meaning of Lent, at least for me personally. I also liked the exit sequence that begins at 5:14. It was a bit different! Thank you for helping me on my deep dive into the Savior’s life through this aspect of the Church. 🙏🏻
