Restored and Colorized footage of England around 1903.
Interesting glimpses into what life was like in England more than a century ago. Both rich and poor appear in this film. The family group halfway into the film is lord Baden Powell (the founder of the Boy Scouts) and his family.

Motion stabilized, colorized and enhanced footage by means of modern software.

Two things I find striking in this film. One is the fact that the streets seemed to be filled with people on foot, walking everywhere. The other is the way the social classes seem to mix effortlessly on the streets. Toppers, bowlers and flat caps all blending into each other in a way that simply doesn't happen today.

At 4.40 there appears to be a napoleonic-era warship moored in the background.
If it is it would be about 100 years old when this film was shot.

Hard to imagine that EVERYONE in this film is long since dead and buried. All returned to dust. Were born, lived and died. Life is really sad.
