I don’t understand what you mean by side grain mounted I just got a lathe and I’m trying to educate myself a little more on the tools and when/why to use them

Great reminder Kent. I did watch your video on this quite awhile ago and have tried to keep that in mind. I really pay attention how far my tool comes off the tool rest. I am sure I am like a lot of turners that close calls can become very nerve-racking.

Once I be t my parting tool, it bent at the handle flung down and ended up sticking in the floor.
