How to service hydro drive on zero turn.

THANK you! Just changed my fluid and it was exactly as described. Covers are 3/8” bolts and hydro top plug is 18 mm.

Only thing I’d emphasize is the left fills very quickly. I have a bit of oil to clean up.

Thanks for making such an informative and useful video. Only suggestion I could make is to first verify that you can loosen (not removing) the top port plug prior to removing the filters and hydraulic oil. Since they are tightened at the factory they may be difficult to remove and if you need to transport it somewhere to have them removed, it's easier if the hydro's are still able to be used.

For the first method set your bottles of oil in the sun for a bit and the oil will flow better.

I've had a Liberty Z for about 5 years now. The only trouble I've had is the yellow PTO switch that engages the blades went bad and caused a no start. It was easily and cheaply replaced with one from Amazon. It was still under warranty but it was easier and cheaper (not having to burn gas towing it to the dealer) to do it myself. Scag makes a great zero turn.

You mention a faster way to fill the hydro pumps but don't elaborate. Is there a faster way to fill the pumps?

Hi Matt! Thank for your Vid, it does help a lot. i noticed you used castrol oil instead of scag or hydro-gear oil, i was wonder if it is the same?
the other 2 are very expensive, i mean probably all 3 come from the same place we just playing for the name. How about synthetic oil? thanks again.

ALSO: About 10 hours after I changed hydro fluid and filters, I noticed the fluid in the reservoir appeared to be dark, discolored. I called the company that makes the Hydro pumps, the guy told me to dip my finger in there (there is no dip stick just Hot and Cold level lines) the oil on my finger looked brand new! For some reason the opaque reservoir looks deceiving. He said I was not the first one to call with that concern.

Is the Wix 10102 filter rated for hydro pump pressure? The filter bypass relief valve operation could be questionable? Is the Wix 10102 filter an engine oil filter?

Hi Matt, any idea if using a semi synthetic 20w/50 instead of regular 20w/50 motor oil would offer better long-term protection and performance?
