Beethoven’s 9th Symphony in D Minor, Op. 125 “Choral” - The bassoon duet from Movement IV

A monumental piece of music and one of the greatest works in the Western classical music tradition. This is an excerpt from the final movement, which includes the famous “Ode to Joy” theme.

The bassoon duet here is the first variation of the “Ode to Joy” theme, providing a light and charming counterpoint to the main theme that happens in the string section. Definitely an underrated excerpt in my honest opinion.

Also, this movement has 2 famous contrabassoon excerpts that you will NOT hear me play anytime soon.

Oh man I'm renting out my bassoon from my school but I eventually want to own my own, Going to school again to try ta Multiple Woodwind masters and I'm hoping to play a bunch of music and travel a little in the states to play. Great video!

Love your videos! What is that stuff you used for the "turban" on your bassoon reed in that short? I don't see any detailed bassoon reed making videos here. Any coming? (kind of a request here.... hehe)
