Windows 1.0 with Steve Ballmer (1986) (HQ, 60FPS)

This is the famous Windows 1.0 parody "advertisement" shown internally at Microsoft, now in glorious 60FPS and high-quality audio! Surreal to think this was only previously available in a highly compressed form for over a decade.

The Nebraska thing refers to an antiquated Bell telephone rule that really existed in the 80s. Many 800 toll-free numbers were based in Nebraska because that area had an excess of available numbers. But according to the Bell rule, 800 numbers could not be used for both in-state calling and out-of-state calling. So companies would advertise an 800 toll-free line for use across the country, except the number really would not function if called from within Nebraska. Nebraska wasn't all that important to them, so that state would call in on a different line, or not at all.

Ballmer should be a wrestling manager. He knew how to cut a promo.

This guy is so convincing that I want to buy Windows 1.0 from 1986 for $99 even though it's 2023.

Imagine those poor souls who were forced to watch this over and over, having no idea what a Windows is.

I feel strangely uncomfortable with hearing this iconic audio no longer being bitcrushed to hell and back, like it's so crisp and clear with no crackling or distortion or background noise...it's just Steve Ballmer

As a Nebraskan who lies, I am very upset that I can't order Windows 1.0. I mean, IT HAS REVERSI!

Believe it or not, Ballmer was actually only 30 years old when he filmed this.

Steve Ballmer barely aged between this video and 2010.
