You are spot on that a good make or challenge project or problem is how you learn the most. I sometimes wish there were more available or knew how to find more contests and such.

I’m not even applying for anything but this video structure is exact sentiment I’ve had working on automation projects for clients where in the project I’ve had to learn things I’ve never done before and the process then opened new avenues for other projects and that domino effect is addictive

Your balancing robot is a really cool idea! I'm a current mechanical engineering student at MIT and this project reminds me a lot of one of the labs we do in dynamics and controls II (2.004.) It takes precedents from the ways segways work by modeling the system as an inverted pendulem on a cart. I would recommend looking into some of the control theory that goes in to making that kind of system more stable and could send you the lab details if you would be interested :)

Hey! I got deffered from early action, but this is really cool! I started out with some of my earliest projects being Nerf mods, and have since thrown thousands of hours into FRC robots. Really cool stuff!
