Most people buy new phone when they have issue with the prior, it is a huge flaw that you can't sign in to your authenticator or transfer it to new phone without old phone. Prime example of security shouldn't be too much that it becomes problem in itself for authentic user.

Anybody watching this video will be here because, like me, they're now on a new phone and the authenticator didn't sync - because Google designed it that way but do not tell you that.
If you're VERY lucky you still have the old phone and didn't wipe it yet. Otherwise, most people will be finding out way too late and there's absolutely no way of knowing until it's too late and you have lost everything.
So, in short, this video is clear, concise and superb, if you can go back in time.
Bravo, Google.

A question: Right at the beginning 7 or 8 seconds in that first pic you show of the two codes on your old phone, how do I bring that up on my old phone? I have a 5+ year old MotoG on Cricket Wireless with Google Authenticator in it that I use for two cases, a personal crypto account and accessing work accounts at my job. I am about to buy a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, and want to be sure I can and know how to do this transfer. I plan to switch to T-Mobile, and not sure if I can keep my old phone number or will need to get a new one, and not sure if and how changing phone numbers affects this issue as well, maybe you have thoughts on that? Other? Thanks so much. I also have a 6 year old Dell Inspiron laptop and am about to buy a new Dell XPS laptop, and I have not idea yet if and how to transfer my Google Authenticator between those two laptops either, but that's a day 2 for me, unless there is good reason to get the laptop first and the phone later.

Why do people say not to use Google Authentication for 2FA? Can anyone tell me what secured multi-factor authentication with biometric option I can use instead?

Which one is more secure (not hackable), Google Authenticator, Authy, LastPass, or Microsoft Authenticator?

I have my old phone but got a new number, and when i go to upgrade authenticator, it needs me to upgrade the iphone software, so i did, but then it said, storage issue. So i made storage and it still wont fully upgrade my phone. Found out i have corrupted data and the only thing to do is reset the phone, but the thing is, i need that auntheticator to not sign out because if i erase everything, and try to sign back in, it will ask me to verify its me and send it to the old number which isnt in use anymore. So wtf. Ill basically be locked out forever. Wtf google. Figure this tf out.

Google Authenticator also does not back up into iCloud. It’s not available in the list of apps to back up within my iPhone 11 Pro Max.

My problem is my old phone has a broken screen (which is why I had to replace it) so I cannot use it, but the 2FA codes keep being sent to my old phone. When I try to set it up on my new phone it asks for the 2FA code from my old phone which I cannot use.

Exactly! and.... I have my old phone, and the dumb app, 5.0 version (says only need 4.4 or higher to do this), when you push the 3 dots, there IS NO transfer option anyways, so it's impossible. Even if you have your old phone and went back in time, it still may not have worked, this is so stupid, I have to use my old phone THREE PHONES AGO!! to get an authenticator app code, just moronic.
