Electrical Treeing and Breakdown in Acrylic Glass - Dual Tree Growth

This movie was made as part of a internship to research the visual relation between the inception point of an electrical tree and the final breakdown of the insulation.

In this video multiple flash-overs before the final breakdown are clearly visible.

The subject of the internship was provided by Fred Steenis of DNV KEMA. Supervision was provided by Peter Wouters of the TU/e (Eindhoven University of Technology) and Bernd van Maanen of DNV KEMA.
