In PART 1 of this series, I talk about how powerful Michael Jackson was in his prime. Throughout the series I'll hopefully be able to answer wether or not he was the MOST powerful artist ever or not.
I consider these things throughout the series when talking about power; equity and ownership WITHIN the music industry, influence and sale (on part 2).

On part 2, I'll directly compare MJ with other peak artists such as
Jay-Z, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix and more, directly stacking up numbers on sales, cultural influence and equity/ownership!

Stay tuned!

He literally sang through 5 different eras, 5 decades, and held his crown the entire time.

Michael created generational wealth for his family. No matter how they tried to break him, he refused to give up his music catalog and the ownership of his music.

MJ was a music business genius, the world stopped when this guy died, you will never see the likes of that again.

Till this day, when someone says something ugly or terrible about Michael, I defend him. I don't like hearing negative about Michael. I'm 59. I grew up with Michael. I miss Him

I was absolutely obsessed with him as a kid, but as an adult I am in AWE of his unREAL accomplishments and business sense, and saddened by the corruption that ended his beautiful life

People think Beyonce is bigger than MJ. They need to watch this video. MJ started as a child prodigy, survived disco, and successfully reinvented himself while innovating music videos.

Michael Jackson was probably the most honest and trustworthy person in the business world. He did not betray or backstabb anyone, including his former friend McCartney. He asked him and Yoko Ono if they wanted to buy the catalogue before he does the move. That is so considerate of him and really proves that, unlike everyone in the business, money was never his priority. Plus, a lot of the money he earned, he put back in the community and gave away to charities, used to build hospitals in Africa. This is part of the reason why Michael, as powerful as he was never got to be as weakthy as a lot of artists. He was not greedy. He was an icon, but above all, a agreat man, one of the greatest humanitarian and the world was lucky to have him.

MJ had a purpose when he was alive. you can see it in this video. he was alive for a purpose. the purpose is so simple and so in our faces collectively: to change music business & music culture. that was his purpose. it's incredible

This gift Michael Jackson had is from God, and what God gives, no one can take. He refused to give up until they killed him. But they can never kill his legacy and his memories. Legend lives forever.

What’s fascinating about Michael is that his presence in this modern age showed us how much potential a human being can hold when he’s putting extreme dedication and concentration into his craft. Because when normally we’re so used to this saying that oh perfection doesn’t exist or it depends on perspectives. But for Michael, there’s no ambiguity and excuse, perfection does exist and he can see it clearly better than anyone else. Then through him we all got the chance to witness something that’s been created by human but feels like bigger than life.

Not to mention MJ was only 27 years old when he owned the catalog, and became the top 5 and only black most powerful music mogul in the world. Just imagine.

Biggest reason he wasn't under there control. The mere fact he owned more then 50% of the entire music Industry At one time. Which IS THE REASON His legacy was attacked with Stupid False Accusations in the first place...MJ is definitely the biggest star of all time

Michael simply outsmarted them. They didn't see it coming. He practically owned Sony when they realized that he owned all of those publishing rights, including Beyonce and the Beatles. Paul McCartney flipped out when he realized that Michael owned the publishing rights to the Beatles repertoire.

Michael Jackson showed that you can be the owner of your own music. He never let the music industry dictate what he could and couldn't do. It must've peeved them off when he began purchasing music catalogues which made him the sole distributor.

It's insane how a piece of art created is not owed by the creator.

I've heard ppl speak negatively about Michael's purchase of the Beatles catalog and I believe they're focused on the wrong thing. Isn't the issue with the industry itself? There are multi millionaire "executives" that have never played a tune or sung a song.
