Restaurant Nisei is the newest high-end restaurant in the Russian Hill neighborhood of San Francisco. It is the debut restaurant of Chef David Yoshimura, former Chef de Cuisine at Michelin-starred Californios.

"Nisei" means "second-generation" in Japanese. As Chef Yoshimura is a nisei Japanese-American, Restaurant Nisei serves high-end washoku (Japanese cuisine) with Californian inspirations. Japanese food extends far beyond sushi and ramen, and Chef Yoshimura is aiming to connect others with elevated dishes based on Japanese cuisine. Nisei's principles emphasize balance of color, taste preparations, sense, and respect to food.

Appreciate the honest review. I’m interested on the black curry and the green tea dessert ! I think after I get out of this restaurant I will need a bowl of poke . The servings are tiny like appetizers.
