This man is part of the greatest generation. He's telling the story with such a matter of fact approach, that we should not forget how horrific this was. Remember we did not start this fight but we finished it in the world is better for it. When I say we let's say they the greatest generation did. We have just benefit greatly from their sacrifices and their achievements.

Very few Iwo Jima Marines still standing. The Greatest Generation. Unfortunately most of those Marines are gone now. But as long as that flag flies high atop The Iwo Jima Monument in D.C., those Marines will be remembered. God Bless Them All 🙏 🇺🇸❤️ Semper Fi 🇺🇸 USMC Veteran 69-74 And damn proud of it🇺🇸🇺🇸

In the event he would wish to return the flag to the family of the soldier, the Oban Society (on youtube) arranges meetings between the family and the possessor of the flag for return to them. It’s almost a holy artifact to the families of the Japanese soldiers.
