Might as well chip in my contribution.
My mother started playing a lot of Jim Reeves back in the mid 80's when I was a teenager. I quickly grew to love the music.
I moved from the nest when I was 19. Then in my 30's the desire for the music came back and I collected a few songs.
Mum passed early this year, RIP. In conversation with my older siblings (I'm the baby of the family) I mentioned mum's listening habits in my teenage years, and they told me that, in fact, my grandmother used to love Jim as well and used to play the music when we were living with her and my grandad back in Guyana in the Caribbean, back in the 70's. I have no memory of the music because I was very young I suppose.
I guess gran passed on the love for Jim Reeves to mum, and mum handed it down to me. I'm 50 now and really enjoying the music. So glad for this hand-me-down.

My dad had all the classic playing when we were kids. I grew up listening to Jim Reeves, Nat King Cole, The Platters, John Denver, etc. in the Caribbean. When my siblings and I left for America, he played John Denver's. I'm Leaving on a Jet Plane, and our house was also filled with Jim Reeves Christmas songs. I have continued those traditions with my children, who are now adults. I miss him immensely, and I cry when I hear those songs, but they also bring back happy memories.
