Laser soldering simulation using FLOW-3D

A low power laser is used to pre-heat components and melt a soldering wire that form joints between two closely spaced sensitive components. Simulations using FLOW-3D help understand the effects of localized heating in the soldering wire and the solid components due to the laser beam profile, and the subsequent flow and formation of the soldering joint between the two components.
