As the pandemic shut down schools across the country, schools quickly pivoted to distance learning, sometimes overnight. This shift quickly revealed glaring and significant disparities among students’ access to learning –including students in special education. The question remains: how can educators better reach and educate all learners?

This webinar is hosted by Barbara Pape, Policy and Communications Director of the Learner Variability Project at Digital Promise and features Lindsay Jones, CEO NCLD, Megan Gross, special education teacher, Poway Unified School District, CA, CA State Teacher of the Year 2017 and Kim Eckert, Innovative Programs Coordinator for West Baton Rouge Schools, Educators Rising and Louisiana State Teacher of the Year 2018 who will discuss topics including:

-Importance of developing self-advocacy in students
-Effectiveness of tele-therapy
-Adjustments needed for text-heavy online learning environments
-Current federal policy and its effect on special education
-Intersectionality of race and special education

As educators dive into an unprecedented fall semester, they may find an opportunity in the uncertainty: to rethink strategies used to teach all students in special education.

It is very important discussion during this crucial time. Thanks a lot, I would like to hear more discussion like this which we could apply even for Sri Lanka.
