1. Not knowing the difference between panning mono and stereo tracks.
2. Not using fades.
3. Setting recording levels too hot.
4. Not using Bounce in Place or Freeze to conserve CPU.
5. Not using sends, busses and auxes.

Feels good that this was all old news to me. It should be, as I've been producing long enough, but you always get that sense of doubt when you see video titles like this. So this was validating for me, thanks.

Only been six months and the last time I clicked on this I had no idea what you were talking about so I found a different video. Came back to it and realized I utilize all of these now.

Good tutorial. Quick note, when you freeze a track, the next time you open the session, Logic Pro will not load the associated plugins for the frozen tracks. It will only load the temporary bounced version. When you unfreeze the track, it will load the plugins for the track at that moment.

I haven't even gone through the first five minutes of this video and I can already discern that you're the guy I need to be tuned into...thanks for the great info and demonstration. I'm you're newest subscriber.
Great tip regarding recording levels...I've always remembered from my early recording days years ago that 7 is your nominal, so hot tracks that are completely above this are definitely on their way into distortion if you don't watch/listen carefully...this has always saved me from pushing things into heavy distortion or clipping the signal. Just a rule of thumb.

This is the best Logic training video I have seen. I have been producing for 23 years and picked up some very bad habits. I have subscribed and will head over to your site. Thank you.

A few things to mention: Logic has a setting to snap edits to zero crossings in the snap dropdown, I wish it was on by default. This prevents the pop by starting regions when they are at zero on the wave signal. But the fade does show some tlc ;) Also, regarding freezing tracks (essential) there is the pre fader mode in the inspector which only freezes the source and lets you continue to try out your effects. Good job! I just wanted to point out additions to what you were presenting. It’s such a great DAW. Thanks!

I’m so guilty of not using buss. I use the same plugin on numerous channels. It just happens gradually and the next thing I notice the repetitive plugins. Thanks Chris for the reminders and again on the panning.

The phenomenon of recording hitting louder peaks after showing lower during level checking goes away once you turn off the metronome click. Somehow the metronome pushes the levels higher during recording.

You’re an excellent speaker. I don’t think you stumbled your words even once. Valid topics as well. One pet peeve of my own is keeping your project files clean and organized. This includes properly labeling and color coordinating your tracks and regions. Utilizing track stacks is also crucial. Achieve all of this without losing any time by creating templates, as well.
